Ascend: Financial Literacy Bootcamp
On February 6th, 2024, the MSME Division of the Commerce and Industries Department of the Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Government of India, organized a one-day workshop focused on the Sikkim Startup Ecosystem, with a primary emphasis on enhancing financial literacy. The workshop was designed to offer valuable insights and knowledge to aspiring entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts in Sikkim, equipping them with essential tools to navigate the intricacies of entrepreneurship effectively.
The workshop featured experts and mentors, including Mr. Anuj Kanwar, Head of Strategy and Sales at Febi.ai & Founder, Mr. Anil Joshi, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures – School Sharks, Mr. Sushil Das, a Chartered Accountant & GST Practitioner, and Prof (Dr.) Tej Chingtham, CEO of AIC – SMU Technology Business Incubator.
The speakers addressed key topics such as Funding Opportunities and Team Building, Navigating Taxation, GST Compliance in New Business Setup, financial records, and strategies for effective accounting, as well as Optimizing Cash Flow through efficient working capital management. Additionally, the event featured presentations from Startup India, highlighting their offerings and support mechanisms available to startups and budding entrepreneurs.
