Idea Exposition Hackathon’ held at AIC-SMUTBI

January 26, 2021

An idea exposition hackathon on “Innovations in Agriculture, Sustainable Environment and Ecotourism” was organised by the AIC-SMUTBI (Atal Incubation Centre Sikkim Manipal University Technology Business Incubation Foundation) in collaboration with IKP, Bangalore and funded and supported by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) Regional Innovation Centre (BRIC) on January 22 and 23, 2021.

From a pool of 15 startups, 6 startups were shortlisted for the finals, which were put on fast-track mentoring and funnelled through the final pitch during the 36-hour hackathon.

AIC-SMUTBI launches Venture Fast Track (VFT) incubation Cohort in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation

AIC-SMUTBI located at SMIT campus Majitar, which is Sikkim’s first incubation centre supported by AIM, NITI AAYOG launched its 2nd cohort of Incubation for startups called the Venture Fast Track  (VFT) in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation. It is funded and supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and AIM, NITI AAYOG. A total of 13 startups from 9 states of Eastern part of India are selected from a pool of 56 applications.

SIX SIKKIM ENTREPRENEURS SELECTED IN NERES 1.0 TO RECEIVE SEED GRANT

Six start-ups by entrepreneurs from Sikkim have been selected to receive seed grant of Rs. 5 lakh each after being selected in NERES 1.0. The entrepreneurship summit aimed at offering a platform to promising start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs across the North Eastern region was organised by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati. The six recipients of the grant are Abhinandan Dhakal (Shoten Group), Chimi Ongmu Bhutia (Lagstal), Manisha Sharma (Tag Along), Sonam Choden Bhutia (Norhla Corn Husk Flower), Pranay Kumar (Chakras Farm) and Pritam Pany (Voyage).

NorthEast’s first Atal Incubation Centre set in motion

This weekend saw the launch of the first Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) in the North East! The AIC at the Sikkim Manipal University Technology Business Incubator (SMUTBI) was inaugurated on Saturday (February 15, 2020) at Majhitar, Rangpo by Shri Ganga Prasad, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim. AIC-SMUTBI hopes to become one of the top incubators of the country.

Master Class Session – Company Formation with Mr Pratik Jain on 22nd June 2021

An Advocate practicing at Jaipur, Rajasthan, Mr Pratik Jain graduated from Gujarat National Law University and is currently pursuing a PGD in Consumer Law & Practice from National Law School of India University in Bangalore.

He is now a Managing Associate at N.C. Jain Advocate & Associates – Civil and Commercial Law Attorneys, having joined his family practise as a third-generation lawyer. His interests lies in Technology Law and Contracts, so he is involved in the Start-up ecosystem and assists start-ups by providing industry-specific contract management and dispute resolution.
Also, he has collaborated with Dastawezz to assist start-ups with their legal requirements.

Mr Pratik threw in-depth knowledge on company formation with topics such as Registration process, types of Business Entities, how to convert OPC and LLP to a Private Ltd. Company, list of Compliances, Penalties and Consequences, the Startup India Program, GST and Trademark registration, complying with IT Laws, with an emphasis on the importance of Privacy Policy and Consumer Protection Laws for Tech Startups.

The Inaugural session of Startup Acceleration Program for Northeast (SAPNE 1.0) by AIC-SMU Technology Business Incubation Foundation was held virtually on 12th May 2021.

Dr Tej S. Chingtham Chingtham, CEO, AIC-SMUTBI welcomed the esteemed guests, knowledge partners, program partners and the newly selected 30 Startup Founders of SAPNE 1.0 cohort.
The program was addressed virtually by varous dignitaries with motivating and inspirational words from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Shri Indra Hang Subba, Dr Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director, AIM, NITI AAYOG, Lt. General Dr Rajan S. Grewal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim Manipal University and Chairman, Board of Directors, AIC-SMUTBI.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr Sonam Wangchuk, Founding Director, Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh.
